Dr Sohail Omar
Consultant Gastroenterologist
Dr Sohail Omar is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Interventional Endoscopist at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. He has completed his specialty training in the East of England Deanery and post CCT Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship at The Royal London Hospital. Dr Omar has a sub-speciality interest in pancreatobiliary medicine and interventional endoscopy (ERCP and EUS), particularly of the pancreas and bile ducts.
Dr Waqar Ayub
Nephrologist
Dr Ayub is a renal consultant at university hospital Coventry and Warwick. His special interest is cardiorenal metabolic syndrome. He runs a cardiorenal clinic with his cardiology colleagues and a separate diabetic renal clinic. He leads the renal research at his unit. He is one of the principal investigators of EMPA-CKD and Stop- ACEi trial. He is a part of the faculty that teaches the nephrology Fellows, resident and medical students at Warwick university and hospital. He is the co-author of CKDexplained, which is a nonprofit educational organisation that supports social media in medical education.
Dr Yassir Javaid
GP with Special interest in cardiology
qualified from Cambridge University and completed his VTS training in Northampton. He has a specialist interest in cardiology and echocardiography and was a clinical lead in the Northamptonshire Community Cardiology service, which had a focus on patients with heart failure and valve disease. He was also the primary care Cardiovascular lead for the East Midlands Clinical Network from 2013-2020. He was named Pulse “GP of the Year” in 2015 for his work in reducing stroke emergency admissions in the East Midlands. He is on the editorial board for the British Journal of Cardiology and a trustee of Heart Valve Voice.

Consultant Cardiologist
I am the cardiology lead for Infective Endocarditis (heart infections) across West Yorkshire. I also have interests in valvular heart disease, heart failure and general cardiology.
DR Alex Simms
Consultant Cardiologist
Dr Simms was appointed a Consultant Cardiologist in Leeds in 2014 with expertise in the management and care of patients with heart failure, including implantation of biventricular pacing and defibrillator therapy. He is also an integral part of the Regional Leeds inherited cardiovascular conditions service and the Leeds Regional Combined Cardiology and Obstetrics service, with expertise in the management of patients with rare inherited cardiac conditions and women with heart disease in pregnancy.
